• The Department “Microelectronics and Biomedical Engineering” (until 1974 the Department “Industrial Electronics”and until 2012 the “Department Microelectronics and Semiconductor Devices”) was founded in 1965, being the first chair which started to train engineers in microelectronics and electronics in the country. There is an International Centre "Engineering of Microelectronics Systems and Biomedical Devices" which activates within the department. Professor, Dr. V. Sontea is the head and the leader of this International Centre. Moreover there is an additional International Centre "Modern Technologies for Education and Research", the head and the leader being the member of Academy of Sciences of Moldova, professor, PhD. T.Sisianu.

The Department offers curricula modeled on Bachelor, Master and PhD studies, compatible with the European credit transfer system and adjusted to the European education requirements for the following specialties:

Licensee Studies: 525.4 Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies
    526.4 Biomedical Engineering
    Master studies: Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies
    Biomedical Engineering

The Department prepares specialized engineers in microelectronics, nanotechnology and biomedical engineering based on modern educational programs in which theoretical aspects are combined with practical excellence. Department students do benefit from a competitive environment that stimulates creativity, scientific and technical initiative, personal development and active involvement of specialists in building the future knowledgeable society.
